MENtal was created for everyday men.
The information in no way applies just to men, but rather to human beings in general.
However, that being said, the whole idea of this page is to offer men in particular a grounded and pragmatic place to come to to discuss or read about the everyday mental health and well being issues that effect men, but that we never really talk about.
A large percentage of men will not voluntarily seek help or advice regarding their mental health because, for many of us, its not how we have been brought up.
And not only this, a lot of people are private and do not want to discuss the goings on inside their minds and personal lives with a total stranger, which is totally understandable.
Its also a site that wants to let men know ‘everyone’s mental’ and no ones got it sorted. Everyone’s struggling with something.
And its from this perspective that its easier to seek ways to get help and support or to look for ways to enhance our mental and physical well being, which essentially effects every other area of our lives.
The ideal is that talking about mental health becomes as normal and accepted as talking about going on a diet or starting an exercise regime to get physically fit.
But getting mentally fit is going to take a lot of men much more time to feel comfortable talking about, so in the mean time we need information and advice that relates to the man on the street about how he can cope, manage and transition his current situation without feeling restrained or isolated by his current beliefs and values, his living and working situations or inside his relationships or lack of them.
MENtell hopes to offer part of that bridge.
